Willis holds a Master degree in Disaster Management and Sustainable Development and Postgraduate Diploma in Project Planning and Management. He has over 15 years of consultancy work and is an accomplished self-motivated proficient professional with key strengths in participatory development approaches as well as organizational and programs management. As a programs advisor at Breinscope Consultants Limited, Willis has facilitated research, evaluations and related studies, besides having proven track record in capacity building processes, he is a focused, result and action oriented expert with excellent coordination, leadership and interpersonal skills gained from working in diverse complex environments. He also possesses strong negotiation and decision making prowess complimented by extensive experience in peace building, disaster mitigations/ management, strategic plan development and sustainable livelihood development within not for profit environment.
He worked as a Training Manager, Training community in Small and Micro Enterprises Development in Pastoralist Community (Maasai Land) in Magadi for 2 years charged with Developing Training Manuals, Annual Work Plans, and Developing Terms of reference for Donors and recruiting and Training Staff Members/Trainers. He served as a volunteer for Voluntary Services Overseas (VSO) PEACE-Mindanao, in partnership with Lanao Aquatic and Fisheries Resources Management Center for Community Development (LAFCCOD Inc.), Philippines, a National NGO, as a Volunteer Livelihoods Advisor. He has been accredited by the World Bank/Asian Development Bank as a Micro Finance Trainer of Trainers. Prior to this, he had opportunity for many years to work in both the Public and the Private sectors as a development consultant with Wilbon Management Consultants Limited. This was preceded by a two-year stint at the Kenya Scouts Association as Regional Projects manager, Eastern and North Eastern provinces, programs sponsored by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). Between 1998 and 2002, he spent a lot of his part time with the Kenya Management Assistance Programme (K- MAP), a premier institution in small and medium enterprise promotion and development, as a Business counselor assigned to training and Business Counseling.
